The Saang Family
The Saang family serves as the house parents for Charisma Bethel Children's Home. They took the position in June, 2006. The Saang family consists of Apolinario, Maribeth Galla, Gracie (10), and Kish Jasper (5).
Apolinario became a follower of Jesus in 1989 while living deeply in sin and rebellion against the Philippine government as a soldier for the New People's Army (NPA). A older woman shared the Gospel with him while he was hiding in the mountainous region of Butuan, and after surrendering his life to Jesus a local pastor helped him surrender to the military headquarters in Butuan City. By God's grace, the Philippine Government granted him amnesty, and he subsequently moved to Surigao City to attend Bible school. In 1993 he was assigned to pastor a church on Nonoc Island, just east of the Surigao City mainland. In 2001 he returned to Surigao City and began working with street kids, teaching them the Gospel and helping them out of a life of drugs.
Maribeth Galla is from Nonoc Island, the daughter of a fisherman who was active in spreading the Gospel to others on the island.
